I am trying to push my code of ruby app on remote repository on GitHub .using below commands.

$ git remote add origin https://github.com/<username>/first_app.git

I have given  username as rakesh . so command is

$ git remote add origin https://github.com/r...h/first_app.git
$ git push -u origin master

After executing above command console is asking for Username and password as below

Username for 'https://github.com' : rakesh

Password for 'https://rakesh.github.com' :

I am not understanding which password it is asking for .Though  I am trying to add any value to it is not allow to type me there . Cursor just stops there .

Please someone can guide me what  I am doing wrong.

The password it is asking for is the one for your github account when you signed up.

There is no feedback for the password. You just type it in and press return. It will accept the characters.

Hope that helps

Steve.

Have you added your SSH key to your Github account? You should do that and make your life easier.
