As with most things these days, I feel like this is just a matter of what people are comfortable with. If you learned Linux on a Debian derivative, you'll probably be more comrtable with Ubuntu, whereas many with Red Hat training prefer CentOS. Ubuntu boasts a faster update cycle and comes bundled with a useful and diverse set of package groups. In addition to this, it’s also got an option for paid support which includes training and online services, which may be why some people prefer it. It will be interesting to see how the Red Hat purchase of CentOS effects people's decision making process. Ubuntu is good as compoared to CentOS. Its more secure.

I have been also using Cent OS and that is based on talking to people who run website hosts - they seem to think those two are the most constant systems for web internet hosting service.
