Can we have a good thread about changes in Rails 4?  The addition of turboLinks, Russian doll caching, and other issues.

1)  For example, I want to know benefits of using turboLinks with Javascript front end frameworks.  The performance impact of lazy loading external template content as opposed to using templatecaching with Angular.

2)  I want to know the entire workflow of an object key.  Updated through the view, sent to the controller, and updated by the model.

Developers learn best by thoughtfully provoking specific changes between releases.

On a side note, Wiselinks seems better than Turbolinks.

First, "I want to know benefits of using turboLinks with Javascript front end frameworks"

My team's discussion around this is that javascript frameworks, although young, are still better at creating single page applications based on the community experience with Turbolinks. Turbolinks will not play nice with Angular or Backbone/Aura from what we see so far. So as a developer you should choose one JS framework, or Turbolinks. We are leaning towards Angular moving forward.

Other features/changes new in Rails 4

  •  Strong parameters
  •  Streaming Data
  •  Filter Parameters as an Application conifg
  •  Put is replaced by Patch
  •  Addition of ActiveModel::Model (Combine multiple models into one)
