I'm still new to Rails development, and setting out to create my first app, after having completed the RailsTutorial.org course and Pragmatic Studios Rails course. So I wanted to know what some more seasoned developers usually find themselves using in terms of gems?

What gems do you find making it into your project the most?

What gems would you suggest a Rails newb taking a look at if they want to make a user-centric app?

I found this web page with some must-have gems that I think I might actually need for my next project, so will be thrilling. Would anyone have others that are similiar but different purposes?

  1. Devise (Authentication)
  2. CanCan (Authorization)
  3. Haml (Better Views)
  4. Compass (Better CSS)
  5. Will Paginate (Pagination)
  6. Paperclip (File Attachments)
  7. Meta Where (ActiveRecord Query Extensions)
  8. DelayedJob (Background Job Scheduling)
  9. Has Scope (Collection Filtering)
  10. Rack SSL Enforcer (HTTPS Redirection)
