I've looked up acts_as_votable, and make_votable gems.

But I've yet to find a good gem that has mutually exclusive options good for making polls.
(acts_as_votable allows for vote_scopes, like "funny", "cool", "helpful", but a single user can vote for all of those scopes. Given a few scopes - or options - I want to be able to restrict the number of votes for a given set of options, preferably customize that number, and even better if you can create multiple groups, and groups of groups.)

Recommendations appreciated =]

It does indeed seem like there are no gems matching your need.

I believe you'll have to create it yourself, possibly creating a gem out of it?  ;)

As soon as i figure out how to make a gem, I want to fork and adapt the acts_as_votable gem.

Do you have a favorite concise resource on how to make a gem?
