Ok, I have some experience in c++ but I am interested in learning rails. My goal is to create a Website that will allow the user to select certain options and generate a result based on the options for example ask the user to choose what foods they like the most and generate a meal that best suits there preferences.. is rails a good programing language to do this and what would be the best topics to study to learn how to do this?

First off, Rails is a web framework, not a programming language.

Rails is coded in Ruby, which is why we often say Ruby on Rails.

That being said, Rails can definitely help you with creating a website, with a select box and generate a result. This is actually one of the things that Rails do best.

I think you'd be best of looking through some guide on Ruby first, if you want to use Rails.

Something like _why's poignant guide: http://mislav.uniqpa.../chapter-1.html

Ruby-lang.org also has an article explaining Ruby to people coming from e.g. C or C++: https://www.ruby-lan...from-c-and-cpp/

There's even a quick start guide: https://www.ruby-lan...ion/quickstart/

or you can try Ruby in your browser: http://tryruby.org/l.../1/challenges/0
