Hello all,

I am trying to understand how to change rails environments on a linux server. I have just set up a rails server with the following:

  • Centos 6.5
  • Passenger 4.0.38
  • Apache 2.2.15
  • RVM 1.25.20
  • Ruby 2.0.0p451
  • Rails 4.0.3

When I try to change the environment from development to dev_server everything seems to blow up.

My assumption is that something is still pointing to development instead of dev_server. When I change what I know to changeand look in the log directory I still see a development.log server but it is empty.

So here is what I know to change in my environment:

  • RailsEnv in my apache httpd.conf file for passenger
    • Restart apache
  • RAILS_ENV in my .bashrc file for the bash environment
    • source the .bashrc file
  • database.yml configuration from development: to dev_server:
    • restart rails app

Is there a place that I am missing?
