So i was just reading a web site (chowhound) about costco chicken breasts and noticed their threaded blog response model and I thought it was pretty impressive.  Better than many I've seen, and I wondered if anyone knew a way to tell if this was built on an open source rails engine or something else?

Looking through the source code it's mainly javascript driven not that it helps much.

It's been written by CBS Interactive and they have programming vanacies and according to the job desction (here https://sjobs.brassr...31&jobId=361024) It's a PHP framework of some description that has likely been used.

Interesting - one thing I've found is that Rails does not have a lot of good pre built blog stuff - it has a lot of stuff that would work for primarily rails designers but not a lot of user friendly stuff (ala word press) so that 'reply toggle' thing is just something i'll have to integrate when i use mine

(Speaking of which - anyone know of a good wysiwyg gem like this text box right here?)

Well consiering this is in their HTTP Headers:

X-Powered-By:Phusion Passenger (mod_rails/mod_rack) 3.0.7

I can tell you the site runs on Rails :)

According to this, Chowhound's forum software is developed in house: http://chowhound.cho...m/topics/373946

Ah - I see now - how do we mark this as 'answered' now that it is?

Doesn't look like marking posts as answered is enabled for General Chat (which makes sense, really, but I'll see how everyone else feels about changing that) but you could go back and edit the original post and add an "answered" tag if you like.
