1)Simplicity (not so simple or not so sparkling)
2)Colors (depends upon logo demand,light or sharp)
3)Font (must be read able)
4)Background (make suitable background that can adjust with logo)
5)outlines (if possible use some outlines that can enhance your logo)
6)Fonts (use suitable fonts that can match with your logo,not so big or not so small)

Another thing to keep in mind when designing a logo is that you need to think about all of the different contexts that it is going to go into, and that it has to look good in all of them to maintain solid branding. Something that looks great on a business card or on a website may not necessarily look so hot on a building, and vice versa. Creating a solid, consistent look is key to developing brand recognition. Logo design is incredibly challenging. I would even say it's not something for the faint of heart to take on. :-)
