The first thing I'd do is see if your hosting provider has any 'Getting Started with Rails' guides or whatever.
See what version of rails is installed 'out of the box' with your account.
Alonetone is written for Rails 2.3, more than likely your system will come pre-installed with at least Rails 2.3. If it comes with a higher version, you're probably safe.
The next thing I'd do is find a simple Rails tutorial on how to set up a rails app, make sure it's a tutorial for at least version 2.2 or greater, but LESS than version 3. Your host provider may have such a tutorial specific to them.
Follow the tutorial and see if you can get a simple rails app running on your host.
If you can do that, then just blast away your tutorial, and install alonetone as your app.
