Topic: E-commerce Solutions

I'm working on a new project with refinerycms and I've just built an 'events' section. A site visitor can enter in some information and they get registered for an event. Only addition I need is the ability to accept a one time payment.

I'm fairly new to rails and have never built any kind of e-commerce solution. Just wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of something that might fit my needs. This is a pro bono project so there's no budget and free solutions are better if possible.

Does paypal have an api or something I can use? Where would I find information like that.

Activemerchant (contains paypal helpers) and paypal express (since this is pro bono).

Thanks! One of the most confusing parts of the process was understanding what services were part of which packages in pay pal.
