Any reason you're subjecting yourself to cygwin? Why not use Rails in Windows proper or Linux proper?
tortoise....are u on UG forums a lot by anychance? the avatar i've seen on UG....

I've seen it on Something Awful before too but I doubt it's the same person.
But I agree with tortoise, just use native ruby for your platform rather than cygwin.
Okay, I'm bumping. I've tried native windows RoR and Cygwin both, and can't get anywhere.
In cygwin I get successful 'gem install rails' but when i actually try a rails command it says 'bash rails: command not found'
With the native ruby I can't get gem to run. I get
c:/ruby/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems/config_file.rb:53: in 'join':can't convert nil into String (TypeError)
Any thoughts?
