Topic: Rails version of Yuotube like service tools?

So I found this link that uses a python version of rails to create an upload video convertor for flvs

Has anyone tried to do this is rails? Or know of any research links ???

Basically you have to upload an AVI file, use ffmpeg to convert from AVI to FLV, then use flvtool2 to add metadata to the FLV video.

ffmpeg and flvtool2 are command-line tools you can install on Linux, so using them in any Ruby app (including Rails apps) is just a matter of a few system() function calls to operate the tools, then your custom logic on top of that (i.e. storing video information in a database).
