Application not running after deployment (Capistrano/Github)

Hello,
I just started learning ruby on rails using several tutorials. Actual i try to use deployment with capistrano and github.

My enviroment:
Development Windows 7
Production Debian 6
Server for Production NGINX & Unicorn newest versions
Ruby & Rails newest versions

Everythings looks ok after deployment but the application ist not running. I see the rails Page "Welcome aboard

I tried searching for a solution, but could not find something.

Nginx hosting multiple Rails 3 apps on one server?

I'm having issues getting Nginx to properly host three Rails 3 apps on an internal server using url suffixes. The server is internal, with no www prefix. It's accessed via it's computer name, like http://servername.

The Rails 3 apps should be accessed this way:

http://servername -> Rails1 app
http://servername/abc/ -> Rails2 app
http://servername/xyz/ -> Rails3 app

The Rails1 app does not use the asset pipeline, however the other Rails2 & Rails3 apps use the asset pipeline.

I kind of have it working (incorrectly) with only the Rails1 & Rails2 apps. The Rails2 app uses a scope in routes.rb to enforce the /abc/ url suffix:

scope '/abc' do
end

But I had to move the assets folder from the Rails2 app to the Rails1 app to get it to server the static assets.

Any idea on how to get this working properly?

p.s. Also using Thin and running on Windows Server 2008 x64 unfortunately.

Hi,
I am a new RoR developer. I have experience in VC++ and PHP programming.
Currently I learn Ruby and I am plannig to learn Rails by the end of the year. I am taking online RoR course.

I use Ubuntu 12.04 as my primary OS. And I usualy develop web apps working on intranets.

However, I want to choose a framework for developing web apps and stick to it. After I did a little research I decided to try RoR.
As for Ruby, I liked it. It has a lot of usefull laibraries and it is an expressive language.
I would like to hear your recommendations on the following questions:
1) I know that there are development and productions environment for RoR.
What would you recommend for development environment? I mean tools, IDE,....

We work as a team of 3-6 people in a two-room office. We have network: 1 server + 6 machines connected by a switch. We want to setup a Linux server and deploy and test our RoR project on this server.

2) Basic steps for deployment on an intranet. Recommended OS, apache modules...

3) .... Everything I dont know and need for developing and deployment.

Rails 3 - Moving from Development to Production Public Assets 404

I migrated a Rails 2.2.2 application to Rails 3.1. In development mode:

/var/www/project_dir# thin start --ssl

all the assets are found and served beautifully from

/stylesheets/
/javascripts/
/images/

When I run in production mode:
/var/www/project_dir# thin start --ssl -e production

all of the asset requests (JS,CSS and images) return a 404.

The paths in development and production mode are identical.

I have come to the point where I have exhausted all of my debugging ideas and have no ideas why when in production mode, none of the assets can be found.

I did try migrating over to asset pipeline but that caused more problems that I don't think I can solve right now so I need to solve this with asset pipeline off.

Any and all ideas are welcome and THANKS!
